On May 12, 2020, we appeared on Austria's largest startup show "2 Minuten 2 Millionen", the Austrian equivalent of "Shark Tank". Two minutes to present our idea. Two minutes that decisively shaped our journey as a startup.
The idea behind our phone security
It all started with a problem:
A smartphone dropped while hiking gave our founder Lukas Watzinger the idea for a patented phone security device that reliably protects smartphones from fall damage.
Together with Julia Watzinger, REELOQ was born. Our products are not only meant to be practical, but also well-thought-out, durable, and reliable, whether for hiking, skiing, paragliding, or traveling.
The TV moment
The pitch at "2 Minuten 2 Millionen" (Austria's version of "Shark Tank") introduced our phone security to a large audience for the first time. Shortly after the broadcast, demand was enormous, and our first production quickly sold out. We worked many night shifts to fulfill orders and continue building REELOQ.

Innovation: REELOQ Pro with FLEXLOCK®
We never stand still. That's why we have consistently further developed our phone security device.
After three years of development, we introduced the REELOQ Pro with patented FLEXLOCK® locking mechanism in fall 2023. The new generation of our phone security device is smaller and more compact than the original model and allows the system to be locked at eight different levels. This offers even more control, security, and flexibility.
More than just phone security
Today, REELOQ is more than a single product. In addition to our phone security device, we have expanded our range with numerous accessories and innovations. This includes, for example, our POV-Pouch, which allows smartphones to be securely attached for point-of-view shots or action content.
Our aspiration always remains the same:
high-quality materials, well-thought-out functions, and durable quality, so that our products truly make a difference in everyday life.
Grown together
Over time, not only our team has grown. Our network of strong regional partners has also become an important part of our journey.
Today, REELOQ collaborates with, among others, Niceshops, who ship our products quickly and sustainably from Styria. Furthermore, we are supported by the LNW Lebenshilfe Netzwerk, which assists in the configuration of our products.
These partnerships are particularly important to us because they show that innovation, quality, and regional cooperation fit together perfectly.
From two minutes to a growing brand
What started with an idea and a dropped smartphone evolved into a brand that is now used by over 200,000 outdoor enthusiasts in over 40 countries.
And one thing is for sure:
