Our 2 Minute 2 Million adventure began back in the fall of 2019, when we prepared intensively for the investors alongside our internship and studies. In the course of these preparations, we have had valuable mentors who have supported us in every possible way. Of course, there were also people in our environment who advised us against it because the risk of being exposed in front of a big audience on TV or not getting a deal was high. We were also aware of this risk. However, we knew that if we didn't take a risk, we would also miss a big opportunity. And our gut feeling told us very clearly to go on the show. We would advise anyone else to do the same: always listen to your gut! We are both convinced that courage is always going to be rewarded.
Now, in retrospect, we are even happier that the worst-case scenarios did not come true and that we were able to convince two investors right away in the show. That was a great success for us, but it still remained to be seen whether we could also convince the viewers. Therefore, May 12 2020 had another crucial meaning for us: Will there be (enough) people who will recognize the benefits of REELOQ and order it? Although we hoped not, we were well aware that we could also fail with REELOQ.
To our great fortune, a scenario occurred that we really hadn't expected. We had ordered a large quantity of REELOQs to sell by the end of the summer, however within a few hours it was already sold out! It was even ordered far beyond that and we were really very overwhelmed and grateful. An indescribable feeling!
Only a few hours later, we asked ourselves the question: where do we get all the REELOQs that were ordered? Because even the most accurate and extensive planning could not prepare for Corona, which of course did not pass us by without a trace. We had several hundred pieces in Austria, but only the individual parts, because it was no longer possible to assemble them at our producer. Therefore, only a few hours after the 2 minutes 2 million broadcast, we started assembling the REELOQs that we had in stock.
Actually, Lukas would have flown to our producers already in April and would have clarified all production-related issues, especially the exact assembly of the products. Of course, this flight was canceled and there was no possibility to fly to our producer until now. To explain via video the exact assembly of the products and to ensure the desired quality proved to be a challenge until now. This was the reason why we had to deal with very long delivery times. This was not only very frustrating for us, as you spend years preparing and looking forward to the moment when you can finally deliver your product to your customers. But also for our customers, who had to wait a long time for their long-awaited REELOQ. At this point, a big thank you for the understanding and patient emails from many customers!
What made us very happy were the many people who contacted us after the broadcast. We received countless kind and supportive words via email and social media. But we also received inquiries from cooperation partners and companies and retailers who wanted to test REELOQ. And when we sent out the first REELOQs, we were of course delighted with every single photo that was sent to us showing REELOQ in action!
The last few months have certainly not always been easy and, as in the time before, there have been many ups and downs. However, we would both never let this get us down and enjoy our self-proclaimed "startup roller coaster" to the fullest on every level. We now look back with gratitude on our apperance at 2 Minutes 2 Million on TV, which made so many things possible for us and during which we were able to learn so much. Finally, a few personal words from both of us:
What was your greatest learning?
Luke: You can plan as much as you want, but it always turns out differently anyway. We couldn't have prepared better, but even we couldn't see Corona coming. And certainly not that it postpones the production plan two months back because the production halls of our producers have stood still, our suppliers have started to produce masks and the only goods that were transported to Austria were masks and protective equipment.
Julia: To learn to deal with emails from customers who have become very angry and unobjective. Not taking it personally and not letting it affect my mood took a while.
What was your low point in the last 3 months?
Luke: As I've seen how many people are ordering, so that it has exceeded our inventory and I really didn't know how (quickly) we can deliver.
Julia: The moments of helplessness, when you want nothing more than to send the REELOQ to every customer, but you just can't do anything.
What was your highlight of the last 3 months?
Luke: When the first customer sent us a photo from their hiking holiday on which our REELOQ was in use.
Julia: Our very first appointment with a company that saw us on television and actually wanted to use our REELOQ in action. Since our product is currently designed for outdoor sports, he simply ordered REELOQs as a gift for his entire team because he really wanted to support us now.
